Hardwood Pool Deck for an Infinity Pool

A full pool deck renovation for a villa with an infinity-edge pool and open countryside views. The old surround was replaced with a hardwood timber deck that is warm underfoot, does not glare in the sun and turns the poolside into a proper outdoor living area.

The work started with a new timber subframe: treated joists laid out on the concrete base at the right spacing and fall, so water drains away and air circulates under the boards. The hardwood decking boards were then fixed across the joists, cut cleanly against the pool coping and edges, and oiled to bring out the grain and protect them from sun and chlorinated water.
