Stairs & Floors

Wooden staircases, stair cladding, parquet installation and floor sanding across Cyprus, carried out by experienced craftsmen who measure on site and advise on the right timber and finish.

What we make

Wooden stairs and floors that bring warmth underfoot

Timber stairs and floors transform the feel of a home. Whether you are building a new staircase, cladding an existing concrete one, laying parquet or restoring an old floor, our craftsmen handle the details that make the difference: accurate measuring, stable materials and finishes that cope with daily wear.

Stairs

  • Wooden staircases — straight, winding or floating, with timber, glass or metal balustrades
  • Stair cladding — oak or other hardwood treads and risers fitted over existing concrete stairs, a very popular upgrade in Cypriot villas
  • Handrails and balustrades made to suit the staircase

Floors

  • Parquet installation — engineered or solid wood, in planks, herringbone or chevron patterns
  • Floor sanding and refinishing — bringing tired floors back to life with sanding, repairs and oil or lacquer finishes

Dealing with heat and humidity

Wood moves with humidity. In Cyprus, engineered boards are often the most stable choice, especially over underfloor heating or in coastal homes. Before installation the craftsman checks the subfloor moisture, and boards are acclimatised on site so they settle before fitting.

Finishes

Hard-wax oils give a natural, repairable surface; lacquers offer maximum durability for busy households. Anti-slip finishes are available for stairs.

Through Cyprus Woodworks

We connect you with a vetted workshop in your area that specialises in stairs and floors. The site visit is free and you receive a written quote that lists materials, finish and labour.

How it works

  1. Describe the job — photos of the stairs or floor, approximate area and your preferred look.
  2. Free site visit — measuring, moisture checks and samples of timber and finishes.
  3. Quote — materials, finish and labour itemised in writing.
  4. Preparation — stair parts made in the workshop; floor boards delivered to acclimatise.
  5. Installation and finishing — fitting, sanding and finishing on site.

Typical lead time: Stair cladding and parquet typically take 2–5 weeks from approval. New staircases can take longer depending on design.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to clad concrete stairs in wood?

It depends on the number of steps, the timber, the finish and the balustrade. Our price guide shows current ranges set by our team, and a free site visit gives you an exact quote.

Is engineered or solid wood flooring better in Cyprus?

Engineered boards are usually more stable with the humidity changes in Cyprus and over underfloor heating. Solid wood can be sanded more times. The craftsman will recommend what suits your home.

Can old parquet be restored?

Often yes. Sanding, filling gaps, replacing damaged blocks and refinishing can bring old parquet back to life. The craftsman checks the floor during the free site visit.

How long does parquet installation take?

A typical apartment floor takes a few days to lay plus time for finishing. Boards also need to acclimatise on site before installation.

Are wooden stairs slippery?

Anti-slip finishes or inserts can be added to treads, which is especially useful in homes with children or older family members.
