Oak, walnut, iroko, teak, pine, thermowood, lacquered MDF and HPL: what each material is good for, and how it copes with the Cyprus climate.

Oak

Oak is the classic hardwood for joinery: strong, stable when properly dried, and beautiful with its distinctive grain.

Walnut

Walnut is a rich, dark hardwood used for statement furniture, kitchen fronts and feature doors.

Iroko

Iroko is a durable tropical hardwood that copes well outdoors, making it a popular choice for exterior doors, windows and pergolas.

Teak

Teak is a premium hardwood famous for its weather resistance, used for outdoor furniture and decking.

Pine

Pine is an economical softwood. Pressure-treated pine is widely used for pergolas, fences and shutters in Cyprus.

Thermowood

Thermowood is timber that has been heat-treated to improve its stability and durability, ideal for decking, cladding and pergolas.

MDF (lacquered)

Lacquered MDF gives a smooth, painted finish in any colour, used for kitchen fronts, wardrobes and painted doors.

HPL / Laminate

HPL (high-pressure laminate) is a tough decorative surface used for kitchens, wardrobes, doors and commercial furniture.
